$50,000 Challenge Seeks to Stop Catalytic Converter Crimes

Thanks to a financial contribution from Millennium Insurance Corporation, the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) and the Edmonton Police Foundation (EPF) are putting out a worldwide challenge to help solve the ongoing issue of catalytic converter thefts. The Catalytic Converter Challenge will utilize the Community Solutions Accelerator (CSA) to seek ideas and technological innovations from the public to help solve the problem, and offer up to $50,000 for a viable solution. Media are invited to join EPS Chief Dale McFee and EPF Chair Ashif Mawji for the announcement. Director Paul Gregory from the Criminal Intelligence Service of Alberta (CISA) will also be available to answer questions about catalytic converter thefts in the province.
